Our small, friendly club has a clubhouse to match. On the ground floor, our bar area is apportioned into two parts. For those wishing to relax after a game, in non-golfing apparel, there is a comfortable seating area and a large plasma TV screen, generally tuned to whatever is the major Sky TV sporting event of the day. For those still "wearing red" whose need to reach the nineteenth hole takes precedence over showering or changing, there are seats both by the bar itself and - when the weather permits - at the back of the clubhouse, where benches, tables and parasols make for a very pleasant eating and drinking area.
The Long Room
Upstairs we have a large function room, capable of sitting 60 at a time, with lovely views over the common. The upstairs room, festooned with pictures of previous club captains, and club memorabilia, is where we hold all our Club lunches and dinners, management meetings, handicap meetings and AGMs. But the room is available for hire, at a very reasonable rate, at other times. (For details, please contact Emma Pope, Clubhouse Manager on 020 8946 9670 or office@wcgc.co.uk )
Snooker Room
We have a snooker room, where members pay only for the overhead lighting, at 50 pence a time, and where if you've had a bad day on the course, you can take a modicum of revenge over your partner with balls that travel less far and are easier to control.
Changing Rooms
The men's changing room, accessed via a secure key pad entry system, comes equipped with a large number of half and full size lockers that are available for hire on a yearly basis. The women's changing room is smaller and more intimate, but this (male) writer has yet to be allowed to see inside it, for reasons that escape me.
Bar and Catering
The bar, managed by Emma Pope is open every day. It is usually open until 6pm during the winter, and considerably later during the summer months. The bar also serves sandwiches and hot food.
Tuition
Coaching facilities are available from our Club Professional - Jeff Jukes is a registered PGA professional and all enquiries in this respect should be directed to him on 020 8946 0294. He also offers a full club repair service and club hire.
Putting Green
We have a putting green it is situated outside the clubhouse, and a practice net is available to the rear, adjacent to the professional's workshop.
