The course was established in 1871 and designed by Tom Dunn.

Captain - Chris Tongue  I am delighted to be the new Captain of Wimbledon Common Golf Club. When I was looking for a club in the area to join back in 2004, I wanted four things: affordable golf near to where I lived (Fulham), an attractive and challenging course that I would never tire of playing, a programme of regular competitions and events, and - finally - a friendly and welcoming membership free of the stuffiness that seems to be a feature of some golf clubs.  In Wimbledon Common I found all my needs more than satisfied and, five years or so later, I am surprised and thrilled to find myself elected to the Captaincy of this historic club.

In recent months, the course was reviewed by Golf Monthly and we were very pleased to find the club described as "a small members' club with a thriving membership.....the greens are among the best surfaces in the south east. It's a great club, and it's amazing to find such a tranquil oasis so close to the centre of London." I could not agree more.

Lady Captain - Karen Owen
I am greatly honoured to have been elected as Lady Captain for 2010.
We have an active and friendly ladies' section with our own monthly medal held over seven days so that all our lady members are able to take part. In addition we are able to enter many of the club competitions and have recently achieved some fantastic results. The Course is challenging but not too long and we are lucky to be able to play all year round on amazing greens.

New members are always welcome into the ladies section, regardless of whether you are a novice golfer who has not yet acquired a handicap, looking to play an occasional social round or an experienced golfer with a current handicap. We are an equal rights club which means we can play on the course at anytime depending on the category of our membership. As Lady Captain I would be particularly pleased to welcome any prospective new members to Wimbledon Common Golf Club.
