Congratulations to the Ladies of WCGC who achieved an admirable 13th place, from a field of 60 clubs, in the Druce Trophy, held on Kingswood Golf Club on 11 July 2019. It’s a prestigious county event and the biggest in the Surrey ladies’ annual calendar.
The format is foursomes, with one pair going out in the morning and another in the afternoon, with the aim of beating the scores of the morning players. The better score of the 2 pairs is recorded for each hole, and an adjustment is made for handicaps. Our morning team was Jo Elder and Morag Nicolson, followed by Jane Britton and Deborah Smart in the latter part of the day. Team MoJo managed to rack up a selection of pars and bogeys early on, which didn’t give their playing partners much room to play with. Nevertheless Jane and Debs did manage to beat their morning score on several occasions, and we finished with a nett score of 68.75, 6 shots behind the overall winners, Worplesdon.
Thanks and congratulations to all who played; last minute changes had to be made to the team for a variety of reasons, and the gals done well. Unfortunately Jo had to leave early before the photo opportunity arose at the end of the golfing day:
