Located in the heart of Wimbledon Common, Wimbledon Common Golf Club offers a beautiful and distinctive 18 hole course with tree-lined fairways on land that has remained undisturbed for centuries. The course is not long (5438 yards) which makes it ideal for newcomers and those who struggle to hit a long ball; but its tight demanding design makes it a great challenge for players of all abilities. At our recent Centenary Pro-Am, only two professional golfers broke our par of 68.
The Club's "Supreme Virtue"
The great glory of the club is Wimbledon Common itself. Over 100 years ago, the renowned golf writer Bernard Darwin, who played on the common regularly, wrote of the Common's "one supreme virtue - that of naturalness; those clumps of gorse and the deep ravines where the birches grow were put there by the hand of nature herself, who if she be not so cunning, is at any rate infinitely more artistic than any golfing architect''.
We are a friendly, hospitable club with about 300 members. While the majority of our members are currently men, we have a small but thriving Ladies' membership as well, which we are keen to increase.
